Bonefish / Permit Flies
The Bonefish has been called a "Ghosts of the Flats". Bonefish spend much of their time in shallow water flats and are superbly adapted to it. They have a unique ability to change their colors blend into their surrounding environment. They’re streamlined and very fast. Their hydrodynamic shape gives them the ability of moving on the flats with speed and stealth. This speed makes them one of the world’s most sought after fly rod game fish.
Bonefish inhabits most of the world's tropical waters. Hawaii is the latest hotspot for bonefishing. The most popular bonefish destinations are South Andros Bahamas, Abacos Bahamas, Grand Bahamas, Florida Keys, Belize (Central America), Christmas Island (Indian Ocean), and Yucatan (Mexico). Give bonefishing a try in the less pressured "out islands" of the Bahamas.
Bonefishes are bottom feeders. Look at their mouth and notice that it’s ‘pointed’ downward. Their main diet consists of shrimp and small crabs. Our selection of flies are designed to match all of the forage that makes up the bonefish diet.
If you aren’t sure what Bonefish and Permit flies you’ll need for an upcoming trip, let Merrimack River Flies work with you to create a selection of effective flies. I’ll provide you a selection that will meet your needs and fit your budget! Contact us for more information. 978-502-8756
