Dave's Electric Crab Fly

Designed by Dave Hanley in 2018, the Dave’s Electric Crab Fly features bright “electric” micro-rubber legs and a textured body—designed to stand out and attract strikes, even in murky, high-pressure flats like Great Inagua, Bahamas. This pattern demonstrates serious flats effectiveness. Its blend of striking color, agile legs, and heavy sink makes it invaluable in stained or fast-moving waters where standard crab patterns fall short. The Electric Crab Fly is a powerful addition to any flats angler’s box—especially for crystal-clear or mildly stained conditions where visibility counts. It offers a sharp, lifelike silhouette, durable construction, and a sinking, hook-up-ready setup. With vibrant or subtle color options, you can dial it in to whatever the fish are responding to. A versatile, modern crab pattern built to deliver.

  • Eye-catching color & texture: Electric-colored micro-rubber legs bristle from the body, ensuring visibility in low-contrast conditions. Also available in more subdued tan-on-tan for finesse scenarios .

  • Action-packed profile: Combined rubber-leg claws and dense micro legs give a lifelike crab silhouette that pulses with fine movement—perfect for triggering passive or finicky fish

  • Sink & orientation: Offered with heavy lead or bead-chain eyes (various weights), the fly sinks quickly and rides hook-point-up for optimal bottom presentation

  • Built tough: Tied on saltwater-grade Mustad 34007 stainless hooks—resilient enough for aggressive species like permit or striped bass
